The Peterborough Canoe Company opened its doors in 1893 located in Peterborough Ontario. They were a small innovative boat building company that constructed over 120 different models in their lifetime. Their abstracted decoys were only produced throughout the 1900s to 1950s during downtime. They approach bird making through a boat builder’s perspective that is, simple sleek curves, well build construction, and performance enhancing forms. The highlight in their design is the two large holes located underneath the belly of the decoys. They were originally created to reduce weight. To everyone surprise they served a higher purpose, to act like suction cups, increasing the decoys stability factor. -Marc Courtemanche
