Steve Bauer was a professional Canadian cyclist who rode in eleven Tours de France races . He began his professional career in 1985 with the elite La Vie Claire team of Bernard Hinault and Greg Lemond and later rode for the Weinmann / La Suisse crew. At the height of his racing career he brought out his own line of bicycles in the mid-1980s. The company behind the brand was the Niagara Bicycle Corporation, which Bauer had started with his partner, Bruce Smith. The bicycles, all named after winds, were high quality and made primarily in Japan, at least during the early years, bucking the trend towards cheap Taiwanese manufacture. Bauer designed the frames and created a full line of road and mountain bike styles. The last I recall seeing the brand was in the early 1990s, by which time it was being sold in Canadian Tire stores and the quality had been reduced. This 25 year old bike was spotted in downtown Toronto, and is testament to the durability and solid design of the frames.

I had this bike. It was great. I biked it to Niagara Falls from Toronto this past summer. Unfortunately it was stolen from me when I locked it up. I miss it though.

I have the same bike, Its in like new condition. The sad part is that I lent it out and someone lost the air pump and took off the peddals. He has since mooved away. I’m looking to sell it for the right price.

I just rebuild my Steve Bauer and have started riding it again after owning it for 30 years. It has more km than most peoples cars and still a great bike to ride. I rode it from Oakville to Ottawa in 1 1/2 days when I was younger.
