Part of Vancouver Expo 86, the pavilion consisted of an intricate screen of white bamboo scaffolding – a common sight in Hong Kong – wrapping around the building. The scaffolding was constantly being modified by resident builders during the fair. Their presence was expanded with the incorporation of life-size mannequins of construction workers placed into the scaffolding.
